Spitfire update

I know there has been a lot of questions about the Spitfire and people are wanting to see what they look like etc.

So I have the team blue model and will be taking pics of the rest of the bikes and all their colors on Saturday and Sunday.

Some people love the team blue [like me] and others aren’t so stoked on it [like Keith] so there is a white option with blue links and a grey option like the one Keith is riding around on.

I have to say I love the tapered headtube that Keith did… its so subtle you hardly even notice its tapered. I’m glad we did it and not just as a matter of aesthetics but because it opens up alot of more practical options for the rider. I would be amiss if I didn't give a nod to all the riders on mtbr.com on the banshee forum for giving their ideas and comments. I know it was valuable in Keith making his final decision as he bounced between 1-1/8 and Taper... thanks guys

Not sure if you notice or not but we’ve also beefed up and improved the little creature on the headtube. The badge is much higher… and more expensive then the previous ones. [We’re not raising prices tho]. I just want to keep improving and any place me and Keith see where we can make our bikes better we’re going to go there.

Another sexy bike for sure. Just curious, you stick with the name Spitfire? I thought there was a discussion that that name was allready taken in the bike world? Anyway I think it suits this frame well, would be a shame if you would change it.

Looks really great, any chance the blue links are an option on the grey ano frame too?

So stoked on where you placed the icon. Very nice

I can't wait to see the white with blue links, should be very clean.

I personally really like the blue. The paint scheme appears to have pattern similar to that of the Paradox (which seems to be more durable than paint on prev. Banshee models). A silver post and silver XT cranks would help show off the blue. Maybe even go with a silver Thomson stem too...?

If this bike is a success (seems like it will be), I'd love to see the suspension design applied to a 29er platform for us Goliaths.

The final version, at last! Looks great! My only doubts: what fork? Zero stack or not? Slack head angle and low bb are great but I wonder if a 13" bb is TOO low (you know, pedal hits everywhere). I think 150mm Revelation with traditional headset and steep geometry could be a good compromise (67° head angle/13.5" bb height). Thoughts?

That is how I ride my Proto when riding technical terrain and it feels good!

I really love the looks but I'm not sure about the tapered headtube. I mean it's only suitable for Fox 36 and it will not look that good with shorter forks.
Great work though on the painting and global aesthetics.
Do you know the weight for the M sized frame?

Henrique said...

Just noticed that now also the 32 Fox come with optional tapered tube. I think it would fit here perfectly.

For 2010 you can get all trail forks from big manufacturers in tapered steerers, which gives you options. Also you can run straight 1 1/8" steerers and reducer bottom cup as either external or zero stack. It opens up a lot of options!

I think medium frame will be around 5.5lbs without shock. But we will confirm weights later.

Thanks for que quick reply.
I am really looking forward to see this frame arriving at the local retailer cause it would be the perfect trail bike for me.

Hey guys. Tom here from downunder (the one with the Red rune). Frame looks fantastic, any idea on final pricing and availability date? would love to slot this in the rack next to the rune.

Keith Scott said...

Pricing will be in line with the rune and rampant. They should be in the shops within a month if shipping stays on schedule.
