New year, New goodies

Just received a delivery from the amazing people at Hayes Bicycle Group. I'll be running there products Manitou,Sun Ringle and Hayes brakes. Couldn't be more happy, I have heard a lot of great things about the new Manitou Circus fork and cant wait to ride it and see how it feels. I am also running the Dorado on the Dh bike which looks amazing. For wheels i am running A.D.D lite wheelsets on both my jump bike and DH bike. I tested the Hayes Stroker brakes a month ago and am super stoked to now have a set of my own on both bikes, they feel amazing. I will have a Bike check soon once i've finished chucking all these goodies on the Banshees :)

Mike - COC Head Coach

"How stoked are we? Mike Montgomery is our new head bike coach. Mike got 2nd at Crankworx and invents new tricks like I drink Slurpees." Camp of Champions

Mike with another easy trick, come on who can't do this?

I am pretty stoked, for the riding adventure of a life time check out Camp of Champions website, not only will you get the chance to ride the Legendary Banshee Legend MKII, you will also get a chance to ride with Jack "Fogel" Fogelquist, Alan "no nickname" Hepburn (though we all know that is not true ... right Alan) and of course new head coach Mike "i dream of tricks" Montgomery.

Jack with a heal clicker, I can not do this sitting in a chair.

Good chance I will be hanging out for a good portion of Camp so you will also get a chance to ride ahead of me while I eat your dust or watch you ride away while having the best time of your life.

Alan goes no hands. Alan takes it up and throws it down. Takes a rest and does it all over again.

Keep Riding.

Sponge Bob Riding Kit

Our goal at Banshee is to be ahead of the competition. For the past year we have been developing a new racing/slope style kit with team rider Alan Hepburn.

We are calling it the SB-1 kit and after extensive testing we have determined the following:

- increases awesomeness by 15-20%
- increases of sex appeal by 30-40% (depending on the rider)
- decreases aerodynamics by 5% but somehow has a positive effect on speed, amplitude
- increases judges' results by anywhere from 80 to 95%

... a full list of the benefits will be released soon ...

Right now we can say the new suit works 60% of the time every time. We are finding that results vary with use of bikes that do not say Banshee on them ...

Keep Riding.

Team Building

A few days ago Mike, Alan, and I missioned out to Creston, BC for Goatstyle!  For the Banshee team, we’re all about team building.  Through Pina Colada smoothies for breakfast, breathtaking games of chess, and seeing who could jump over their foot, the team got real close, real fast.

37618_631587282301_44005074_35536693_3874031_n[1]

On a serious note, it was an awesome time and everyone threw down!  Mike took home 2nd place with a crazy run, and the Friday Night Lights Jam went off!  Alan landed a dialed corkflip barspin, and I stuck a superman to tailwhip flip!  I got a chance to meet Paul, who was killing it all weekend as well, qualifying and putting together an awesome run!

There’s not too much video and pics up of the contest yet, but I’ll try to post them as I find em.  Mike, Alan, and I got up at 4:30 to meet with Jason Headley, Mike Zinger, and Aaron Larock for a sunrise shoot up on the course, so stay tuned for the result of that!  Here’s a video of Friday Night Lights that Reece put together.  Alan’s cork-bar and my superflipwhip are in there.

Thanks go out to the guys at Geax too, generously helping us all out a lot!

Winter is here.....!

So for all you in the northern hemisphere peeps I’m sure you are all buzzing at the blue skies and sunshine. Down here in Australia we have been getting a lot more clouds and these crazy situations where water falls from the sky. The last month has been full of digging and some riding for me and my canadian friend Jason Headley. We decided to commit a whole lot of time to build a couple new lines at my local jumps. Despite the time and effort it was worth it and makes the spot a lot more fun to ride.

Here is an edit we just filmed of the new and improved jumps.

Melbourne roadtrip

Here is a quick video Jason made of Lachie and myself having a little session at Lachie’s jumps. We drove 900km to Melbourne just for something to do, hit up a foam pit to learn a couple new tricks then rode these jumps on our way back. :) enjoy

Eagle on the hill

A couple of days ago Jason and I went to the dirt jumps at our local mountain bike park to see how they were running and if we could get anything going of them. With a little bit of grooming to get the jumps running this is what we managed to get.

Aussie edit, Golden hour.

So over the last few days we got a couple of days of much needed rain, altho everything is dry now it gave us a little time to fix up an old trail and build some freeride hits. Here is what Jason and I came up with from filming one afternoon in some nice Aussie lighting. enjoy.

Single track.

Here is a little relaxed ride my friend Grant and I had last weekend. Jason came along and we did some filming on some single track. The rain has arrived here in Australia which is perfect cause it means i can finally build some new stuff to ride and helps make the trails all grippy again :)

Summer trails

So last night jason and myself decided to do a quick little project and some trails while the light was golden. We wanted to do something different instead of the normal webedits. We wanted to show just normal relaxed riding instead of the banger tricks you see in web edits all the time.

Australian National Dirt Jump comp.

The first ever Australian National Dirt Jump comp was held last weekend in conjunction with the National DH championships. There was a good turn out with all the top riders from sydney and melbourne making the trip to Adelaide to ride there hearts out. The format was a 30 minute jam and a 15min best trick session, a good crowd turned up and the riders were pumped to throw it down.
It was also good to see a lot of people that I haven't seen in awhile, and to see what level Australia's riding is at. Theres definitely been some progression in the last few years and there a plenty of riders coming up through the ranks.

The jam started of with a bang, with plenty of riders going for it, I had a few unlucky crashes at the start that didn't help, but got a few good runs done later on. The weather was playing a little roll too with the wind not being the best for us to ride but when you have to ride you have to ride. I got 2nd in the jam with local rider elliot getting 1st, it was a very tight decision, but elliot rode very well through out the whole 30mins so it was well deserved.

Next up was best trick and it had some bangers. HHmm where to start , there were plenty flip whip attempts, a couple riders were getting very close but there was a strict rule that it had to be to pedals for it to count. There was also a frontflip tailwhip attempts by benny, as crazy as it sounds on a mtb he actually got really really close and it was pretty amazing to see. I through down some flip superman indys and a 3 inward which tied for 1st against a frontflip.

So overall i was pretty happy with the weekend with a 2nd and tied 1st. Big props to Darren from Barspin imports (Banshee Australia) for sponsoring and making the event happen. Its a first for Australia and is a great step for Aussie riders.

Tasmania roadtrip

2 weeks ago i got on a plane and headed for tasmania to participate in a couple contests. The first contest was held in a little town called Launceston. It was held on a locals farm with the course being short but sweet. It consisted of a small set up drop to right hand berm/speed jump/ normal jump/ big right hand berm and then into the ramp to dirt trick jump. There was an open class but i wasn't really aloud to compete because the prizes were bike products that i couldn't really use anyway. So that was a bummer but i did get to ride a fair bit and ended up judging the contest. I woke up the next morning with a big picture in the local newspaper tho so that was cool.

The second jam was at the Downhill nationals in hobart. After a little tweaking with the shovel when we arrived the jumps felt alright, pretty small but good enough to pull out some tricks.
here's a real short edit of me from that jam.

It's good to see a couple of contest popping up here in Australia, there really is never any contest here through out the year. How ever there is a real decent one coming up on January 16-17th during the national DH event here in my home town. Its sponsored by Barspin Imports (dealer of Banshee) which is great, this contest will be great for the Australian scene. Keep in touch for a big right up on that event.
I'd also like o thank my sponsors for helping out too.

What’s Next – teaser 2 by Aaron Larocque

This is going to be such an awesome movie I can’t wait.

Aaron Larocque looks to have done a killer movie and I wish I could be at the release but I’m on the other side of the world and will miss the premier at Crankworx.

What is bloody amazing is that a film of this quality will be available for free… yep free.

So check out Banshee riders Alan Hepburn, Dustin Greenhall, Matt Brooks, and Mark Mathews.
