Winter time couch shreddin

Sooo some people know that I have been riding injured for the past two years..And if you dont know the story here is a quick summary! So in grade 10,February 4th 2008 to be exact, my first year living in BC after moving from Toronto. I was snowboarding at one of my favourite resorts, Sunpeaks. I was just goofing off cruising through the park with some friends, which at that time was one of my first times riding a park in over a year as going from Toronto to BC, you have to take advantage of snowboarding on a real mountain. I caught my back edge on a flat down flat on a back nose and as stupid as reactions are I put out my arms and long story short, Dislocated my left elbow, Placed it back in by accident from holding it so hard, then started biking 3 weeks later when it hadnt healed. Fast forward 4 months. I crashed really bad on a 3 in my buddies yard on a kinda big steep dirtjump and went to flat on my side. I hit the back of my bicep so hard that the top part of my arm broke through the bottom of my elbow and then dislocated, tearing and breaking its way out of the socket. 16 weeks healing time and long story short, the tendons didnt heal back, as the bone where the tendons were attached had broken and they had nothing to heal back to. After being screwed around for a year by a surgeon who seemed to have had his brain removed, we finally got in touch with someone with some smarts. I was thrown on a year to year and a half waiting list to have elbow surgery, during that time making it worse by eating shit on it. Fast forward to now Iam one month into a six month recovery after having my hamstring cut out of my leg and drilled, screwed and plated into my arm. I will say that the day of my surgery was the worst day of my life, waking up from "overdosing" during the surgery with a huge breathing machine shoved down my throat, then to return home and start puking for 3 straight hours till nothing but blood was coming out was not fun. Im doing decent now and heading back to whistler next week, where it will be the first season I will not be snowboarding in 12 years…Im getting pretty good at the new Black ops though!

Seb and Brett ride Squamish

Seb and Brett ride some shuttle trails in Squamish, BC. If you have been up to whistler, but never stopped at Squamish... you are really missing out. One thing I would say however... is ear your runs, not necessarly by riding up, but by looking aftre the trails you ride to keep them in good condition for the next person to ride it.

Nice riding guys, loved the vibe, and it made me miss those summer lines!

Nick Simcik and Devon in Utarado

Well, this isn't a Banshee in this shot. This is Nick Simcik on a Transition and a good buddy of mine. This guy is always down to build/ride/photo/have a good time. This shot was from a place we call Utarado. It's a pretty cool place. As the snow if falling outside here in Crested Butte Colorado, I am sure that it is sunny there. Why? Because it is always sunny in Utarado. If you are ever in the Colorado/Utah area and want to ride bikes and take photos, then hit me up!

Ride Fast, Take Chances.

-Devon

Rob here: Nick is also a Demon Dirt team rider. He was big on helping Nick Moore out with the "I Ride for Nick's Eyes" auction. I have heard from Nick Moore that the surgery was a success and that things are looking good for both eyes. If you were the two guys that purchased the custom painted Amps they left the factory today. Thanks a lot for your support.

Dennis Hoppe

Hi!

I'm Dennis Hoppe, 18 years old from K-town/Germany and the new Banshee-Team-Rider.

I ride mountainbikes for around 4 years now and love it more and more.

Dirtjump, slopestyle, some park - but also freeride are my favourites. I like doing 360-combinations in all variations, tailwhips and others.

First time riding my new AMP gets me smiling - every trick runs directly perfect - it’s a really quick reacting, stiff & light frame - built with the view for details. Good stuff.

Since around my hometown are no real training possibilities for dirt jumping, I built a track in my parents garden.

The backyard consists of 3 jumps, a wooden startower and inbetween a pumptrack.

If it get’s darker a could simply turn on the lights and keep on riding - that’s always save the sessions :-)

2011 I want to ride as many contests as possible besides my apprenticeship as mechanic.

With the AMP I do dirt jumping and for slope/freeride I will use the RAMPANT which is still “under construction” - sadly awaiting parts.

Furthermore I want to personally thank banshee bikes & Rob for the benefit to ride the AMP and RAMPANT frame.

More detailed info coming soon.

Cheers Dennis

I Ride For Nick's Eyes

AUCTION IS NOW LIVE: HELP SAVE NICK'S EYES ...

http://shop.ebay.com/gslaloman/m.html

On Monday night I heard from a good friend that Demon Dirt's Nick Moore is going blind. I had the pleasure of meeting Nick at Goat Style in July a couple days before my wonderful hospital visit. My hospital bill would have been in the $50,000 range if I did not have travel insurance. I could not imagine having a broken back and trying to come up with that kind of cash. Imagine being told you are going blind and that your insurance will not cover the expensive surgery needed to correct the problem.

Watch video:

Now that you have watched the video go here and buy a jersey:

http://www.demonsnow.com/store/accessories/Brig%20Jersey

Now that you have purchased a sweet jersey get ready to bid on a couple of custom painted Banshee Amps.

Meet Amp 1:

Amp 1 is a Regular sized frame, custom painted purple and black with white Banshee logos. For geometry specs go here ... click on here ... it is a link ...

Meet Amp 2:

Amp 2 is a Long sized frame, after painting Amp 1 I thought it would be cool to see what an Amp would look like in purple and black. I am pretty pleased with how it turned out. For geometry click here ... and here ... or here.

Once I know the details of when and where these babies will be auctioned off I will post it here. A bunch of other companies have also donated parts, frames, clothes ... to Nick so dig deep and let's save Nick's eyes.

Keep Riding,

Rob Dunnet

You Like This Update #2

I posted a few weeks ago about a web film i am working on titled 'You Like This' and since that post we have been going hard filming almost every day (i borrowed a Banshee tent from the last race and it has really helped in the rain). I have been taking inspiration from big mountain skiing and I feel the two lines pictured below best illustrate that.

The first photo is a line we named Goat Vindlou, after one of our crew’s favorite curries made by Chef Don at Squamish’s own Essence of India. When I started building the line I had to rappel into it, mountain goat style. Goat is essentially a very exposed double drop, you air the first drop, land on a shelf to immediately take off again into a much bigger air. You can’t see it in the photo, but once you land the drop you rail a berm/jump which gaps over a road and then into a small drop. I have a cool move I have been working on for that drop but you will have to watch the film to see what it is. After Goat Vindaloo you ride a short section of trail right into the line featured in the second photo which we affectionately called 'Garlic Naan' which is a tasty side dish to the main course. The photo features cinematographer/ breaded Arcteryx wearing mountain man/producer/editor Taylor Loughran throwing up the ‘You Like This’ thumbs up, is a rock air, into a chute then off a decent 20 footer (you put your wheels down a few feet below Taylor).

To be honest, I was pretty nervous to guinea pig it the whole line but once I pulled my helmet and looked down at the ridiculously confidence inspiring Legend/Dorado combo I knew it was going to go just fine. And well it did!

PoV

Camp of Champions recently sent me over Gopro to play around with, So i have been trying to think of new angles to try with different types of riding. Altho this angle isnt anything new it was certainly ghetto with a bottle of water and heavy bike lock duct taped to the back of my helmet as a counter weight. This was to help with the weight of the Gopro that was hanging out a meter in front of my head attached to some PVC pipe. Anyway this was the end result which i guess worked out well, gives me some other ideas to play.

Apart from mucking around with things like this lots of digging has been done with all the rain we have been getting. The sun has been really slow in coming out as we creep in to the start of our summer here in Aus. But its coming none the less and that means more beach and riding time :)

Also working on another edit which will be out soon i hope :)

Change of seasons

As the snow starts to pile up on Colorado, I still have the itch to go ride my bike.

Lower Loop in Crested Butte CO. Photo by David Bunt

ESHER X is go

this may look...like nothing...some tape and pegs on the ground

However, this is the start of arguably the most exciting bike park project currently underway in England, UK

This is the start of the ESHER X project, bringing the new school riding to the old Esher Shore bike park site in Surrey, South-East England

We are all about the RACING - specifically Dual Slalom racing on a hybrid "new school" track featuring all the knowledge we have gained in 7+ years of North Shore, Dirt Jump and Pump Track construction

the photos show the "mark out" for the cargo container which will form the base for a massive roll-in tower complex, and also the initial dual slalom line coming off the roll-in tower start ramp (which will have a start gate and freelap timing system)

Today, Jesus John and I marked out a test trail for Freeborn customers who want to demo our bikes (including the Mythic Spitfire and Rune) on proper off-road terrain with a technical trail featuring fast singletrack, small drops, tree roots, a rock garden, short climbs and bits of north shore style timber

In addition to the dual-slalom track and test trail, we are building a "play trail" which will be similar to Winterberg's "Continental" area with big tabletops, step-ups, step-downs and big berms - all fully rollable but also jump-able for quicker riders, and we are looking at building more advanced "pro sections" off the main trail with dirt jumps, wall rides and stunts to ride

We are also hard at work rebuilding the Esher Pump Track and doubling its already impressive size with a brand new area as large as the existing pump track! John and I both just took delivery of brand new 2011 Mythic Rampant Raw frames with Fox RP2 BV shocks and are using our bikes to carefully hone the Pump Track to the perfect shape

for more info check out www.esherx.com where there is a link to the Esher X blog and Twitter feed

we are also running a Mythic GRASS ROOTS programme through the Esher X bike park which will be a Mythic AMP bike featuring the awesome AMP hardtail frame with a Manitou Circus DJ fork, Avid Juicy 3 disc brakes and single speed gearing with tough wheelset

We are looking at putting this out to keen riders who want to race dual slalom / 4X and enter dirt jump competitions , including a 2011 Mythic DH jersey and technical backup, for under GBP£800 - all enquries to esherx@hotmail.com

cheers

Paradox

Just finished building my Banshee Paradox 29'r which is to become my cross country training bike. Huge shout of thanks to Jay, Keith and all at Banshee Bikes for setting me up this awesome machine. It has been built with the Banshee supplied Journeyman build kit except for a few small upgrades including 777 bars cut to 750mm (just cannot bring myself to ride those short little twigs that the Lycra boys use!!), a chain device called a 'Widget' built locally here in Brisbane Australia, and Maxxis Ardent 29 x 2.25 tyres (thanks to my new sponsor Maxxis Tyres). I am really looking forward to hitting the trails on the Paradox with some of my training buddy's who all ride the lightest available carbon fibre bikes but since seeing the Paradox have all of a sudden become very interested in it!!!!

Just one note Jay, the black anodized colour is just fantastic so how about the same in the Legend MKII with high gloss black stickers that have the white outline - would be sic!!!!
